Laura Wilson - Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
Laura is a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with a Masters' degree in Criminology which was obtained in September 2011 and a Bachelors degree with Honours in Sociology which was obtained from Durham University in July 2009.
Laura's core model of training is Transactional Analysis, however the way in which she works tends to be naturally person centred. She is an integrative therapist, using different models of counselling in her work including Transactional Analysis, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Being an integrative therapist means she can use her knowledge of different therapeutic approaches during work with clients, which gives her freedom and flexibility to work in a way that suits the individual.
Laura has worked in a variety of settings including the voluntary sector, the National Health Service (NHS) and more recently a counselling service in Newcastle City Centre. Laura has supported clients who have worked to understand, and address, a range of different issues such as mental health difficulties, bereavement, work related issues, identity/sexuality issues, trauma,, relationship difficulties, eating disorders and addictions.
