Frequently Asked Questions:

What will happen at my first counselling session?

Your first session will be an opportunity to meet your counsellor and discuss what you would like to gain from coming to counselling.  You will be asked to sign a client/counsellor contract which outlines the boundaries of counselling. Part of the first session will be used to do an initial assessment and your counsellor will discus with you a plan of therapy.

How can I make an appointment?

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, apart from very specific exceptions regarding safeguarding.  This will be discussed at your first session.  No record of your sessions will be given to your GP or any other health professional unless you request it.

How long will a counselling session last and how many will I need?

Each session will last for 50 minutes and will be either weekly or fortnightly.  The number of sessions will be mutually agreed between us but as a guideline the average is between 8-12 sessions.

Can my employer be invoiced?
